Sleeping with toys or pets is dangerous for younger children who have not fully developed their motor skills. Sleeping with toys and animals is more unhygienic for older children: dust settles on them, and the child can inhale fibers or hair. Additionally, animals can carry dirt and other substances on their paws/claws (no matter how much you wash them, you won't achieve sterility). Moreover, pet hair, dander, and skin particles can be potential allergens. However, this does not mean a child should be protected from pets or toys. Regularly bathe, trim their claws, wash the toys, and maintain personal hygiene.
