Prevention of Flat Feet

Pediatrician's advice 5-7
There are several types of flat feet.

Mobile (intermittent, meaning it comes and goes) painless flat feet are due to the foot's anatomical features, are considered normal, and do not require additional examination or treatment.

Mobile painful flat feet are associated with increased joint mobility and connective tissue development disorders. These children are noticeable from afar; they are flexible without engaging in sports, can bend their knees backward, etc. The pain syndrome is managed with Ibuprofen/Paracetamol at weight-based dosages, and an orthopedic traumatologist monitors them. Orthopedic insoles and exercises can help alleviate the condition.

Flat feet often develop in overweight children because the increased load on the feet causes them to flatten. However, if a doctor rules out pathological flat feet, lifestyle modification, increased physical activity, and strengthening of the muscular frame (there are many muscles in the feet) are needed.

An orthopedic traumatologist manages the treatment of pathological types of flat feet.

A bit about orthopedic "bonuses." In reality, orthopedic shoes are a marketing ploy. Such shoes will not make the arch of the foot perfect.

Remember that many runners, including Usain Bolt, have flat feet, but this does not prevent him from being an outstanding athlete.
